Thursday's Children March 14, 2013

A weekly blog hop where writers come together to talk about whatever inspires them. Join us!

This blog hop is about how we find inspiration as writers. A special thanks, to Rhiann Wynn-Nolet http://rhiannwynnnolet.com/ and  Jessica Fleck http://jessikafleck.blogspot.com/ for Thursday’s Children Blog Hop. See the linkey below and hop on. Or take a tour of the other inspiring stories with Thursday’s Children bloggers.

Well, and this may sound a little perverse, but after coming down with a nasty bronchitis last week, I realized a VERY important inspiration --and that is BEING HEALTHY!  It’s always more apparent after being sick, unable to do ANYTHING except stare at the walls, to remind you of how much you value your health.

Maybe it was a good thing that my usually over active mind was numbed down, because I had energy for nothing--barely able to visualize. It could have been extremely frustrating. So I used this time as a deep meditation. I did read one book at the onset, that I Loved: CODE NAME: VERITY (thought I’d read more). This incredible story gave me a lot to dream about before the malaise overwhelmed me. When I became the staring Zombie.

Being Healthy after infirmary is inspiring, and for me, creates a frenzy of ambition. All the things neglected come to the forefront, and I want to accomplish them all in a hurry.
I must pace myself though, or risk collapsing/stressing/suppressing my immune system again—did I not learn my lesson.

As a dear old friend’s mother, who survived Auschwitz said to me, “if you have your health, you have everything.”

Words to live by.

To your health!

I sure needed a brain.

So true! I definitely take health for granted until something shakes me up. I'm glad you're back - but don't overdo!

Yes I'm glad you're feeling better, but I know that feeling well - nothing like illness to make you see all the other things you'd rather be doing. I hope you get back to full strength soon.

HAha... you sound like you're back on track, huh? Even though you couldn't read or write, hopefully you had some time to reflect on things (other than being sick).

That should definitely help when you get back on the wagon!

I'm up on the wagon--but the rest of the family is doWn for the count. Just glad it's not me--whole place falls apart when I'm the one who's sick. ack!

I'm glad you're feeling better, but take it easy. No relapses allowed! :)

I'm soooooo guilty of taking my health for granted. Then when I get sick, I'm stunned and frustrated because I have so much to do.

I'm glad you're getting better. You're right health is a blessing we often forget.

I'd been waiting and waiting to get edit notes back from my agent. Then I got a similar nasty cold and, of course, the notes arrived the same day.

But I did learn that, though creative thought was impossible, I could do smaller picky edits which normally bore me. So I guess the sickness was a small win--the larger win was getting better ;)

Glad you are feeling better as well.

Having just recovered myself from an injury that knocked me out of doing so many of those little things that need doing during a day (I never realized how much I take my body for granted until I couldn't do things like putting toothpaste on my brush, etc.)....

Well, having just gotten through that, I understand the relief you must feel. Take care of yourself. Make use of the inspiration, but don't overdo. Be good to you.

God, I love Jazz. Also, blues. The dirtier, the better.

While you're sick, here are some recommendations for easy (restorative) listening. (Note: for best results, add whiskey.)

BLUES:

Ash Grunwald

Hugo

The Black Keys

JAZZ(Y):

Imelda May

Sarah Vaughan

Get well soon!
